We can draw a number of conclusions from the squad the ECB announced for the Ashes down under this coming winter.

1. Nick Compton must have done something really bad in a previous life (or possibly in this one). Although Geoff Miller, the National Selector has insisted ‘the door is not closed’, he must wonder what he has to do to get into the squad. Or perhaps he has already fulfilled his role, by teaching the rest of the XI how to score very s-l-o-w-l-y indeed.

He did a very good job in a very difficult series in India, and a superlative one in New Zealand. 1. Hi Bishwa–I am still trying to understand Cricket, and I appreciate your ‘New to Cricket’ page! I am also enjoying reading your posts, please remember to add your OWN inout to the posts you might be re-blogging. The ‘reblog’ tool is a great tool, I am so glad you found it for us, but each time you write something I would like to know what YOU might think of a certain team or a cerain player, or a trade, or whatever the news in that post is. If you are reflagging an article about a team that you are not that familiar with, maybe you can comment on a similar situation that happened with your favorite team. Or maybe just take time to post some of your own thoughts about the game, about the way the game has changed in the 21st century, or about how Cricket might help children who live in war torn countries to escape their fears, if only for a few hours. Or write about the physical fitness levels of the players, what their most common injuries are, etc. Maybe look into a controversy or two, and find out how it affects the team and their fans. The news itself is a wonderful thing, and I am really, really enjoying reading it, but I also want to enjoy your insights. Thank you so much for a wonderful site!
